What a foreigner needs to sign up

FPT asks a foreign customer for a passport and a valid temporary or permanent residence paper. If you rent, bring your lease or your landlord’s confirmation, depending on the area. Get the residence paper first: see temporary residence registration.

VNPT wants an ID card, citizen card or valid passport, a paper showing the installation address such as a residence paper, and a contact phone number. Give complete and accurate details: a telecom subscriber must provide them when signing, and the provider serves subscribers whose information matches the identity document shown.

Installation, fees and contract length

Follow these steps:

1. Choose a plan and give your details and installation address.
2. Sign the contract online by e-Contract, or at the address.
3. Pay the initial fee for 1, 3, 6 or 13 months, depending on the plan.
4. A technician installs within 24 to 72 hours, depending on the area.

FPT takes registration at fpt.vn, on 1900 6600 or at an FPT office. Its setup fee is the monthly fee plus an installation fee, and both vary by plan and area. Viettel and VNPT list VND 300,000.

The initial fee covers 1, 3, 6 or 13 months, depending on the plan; prepaying longer is how you cut the monthly price, as VNPT’s 6- and 12-month rows show. Landlord taking the bill? See landlord electricity prices and SIM cards and eSIM.
