Save 115 and 112 today. The older numbers keep working while 112 runs. The 115 switchboard took over 400,000 calls in a year.

A plan approved on 29 June 2026 folds them into one number, 113. Phase one sits at the police centres of 34 provinces and cities. No start date is set; keep dialling 115 until it is announced.

Ho Chi Minh City has 49 satellite 115 emergency stations today.

What to say on the call

  1. Say the exact address of the incident, a call-back phone number and the patient’s condition.
  2. Expect questions. In a recorded call the operator asked for the number of casualties, sex, age, cause and condition.
  3. Stay on the line. The 115 switchboard stays on to guide first aid.
  4. For cardiac or breathing arrest and choking, two staff handle the call: one guides first aid, the other sends the nearest station’s ambulance.

What an ambulance costs

Option Price
City ambulance centre, per km by the vehicle meter (rate reported 17 August 2023) VND 20,000
Private operator, first 4 km VND 300,000, then VND 10,000-25,000 per km
FMP day call, 8am-7pm, non-subscriber, inside the coverage zone VND 3,820,000
FMP night call, 7pm-8am, non-subscriber, inside the coverage zone VND 8,065,000
FMP *9999 membership, per person per year VND 1,980,000

There is no single nationwide price framework for emergency ambulances; each province or city sets its own. In August 2023 ambulance firms had no common price list.

Before a private transfer, ask hospital admin to arrange the vehicle, fix the price in advance and get a clear transport contract. Overcharging often comes with unlicensed ambulances, which carry no medical staff.

Plan to pay yourself and claim back later: in August 2026 the 115 centre’s director called for health insurance to pay for emergency patients. Ask the crew for a receipt.
